This year's Iceman Cometh Challenge was brutal. 38 degrees and raining at the start, raining in the middle, and raining at the end. Everyone was slower this year; my time of 2:19:01 was nearly 14 minutes slower than last year. Starting in an early wave proved to be a definite advantage this year as the course progressively deteriorated and bottle necked with due to the slower pace backing everyone up. BUT, you never know what you're going to get in November, and its called a challenge for a reason. I still took home 1st place in Clydesdale 39-under; something I've been chasing for the last 3 years and have been building towards since I started racing in 2010. The video itself, as you'll see, is wretched up front. Between the mud and water, you can't see much through my front GoPro unless I've just wiped off the lens. The rear view fared better, so hopefully this will give a perspective on what future race videos will look like when they're both viewable at the same time. I really like the rear facing perspective but have only watched about a quarter of it myself so far. When you're racing, you don't get to see all of the movement and progression that's happening behind you, so this is really interesting to me. This marks the last mountain bike race for me for the season, so I really would like to thank Cross Country Cycle (and mountain bike team) for providing all of my mechanical assistance and race support this year. Its been a fun year of riding and I look forward to next year. If you would like to see more racing, riding, and product reviews be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my channel! :)
