2005 Iceman Cometh Challenge presented by Gary Fisher
What: The 16th Annual Iceman Cometh Challenge is a 27-mile, point-to-point mountain bike race. Registration for the event is limited to the first 2,000 entries received. Record registration in 2005. 2,000+ racers registered by the first of June!
The 12th Annual Slush Cup is a half-frozen version of the Iceman. This event offers beginner and recreational riders the chance to test their skill on an eight-mile course. Fun for everyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors! Pre-registration is required.
The 4th Annual Sno-Cone; there are no limits on participants age 2 to 12 on this trail event! FREE to all young riders. Every young cyclist will receive a medal and a cool gift! Pre-registration is SUGGESTED, not required.
When: The Iceman will be held on Saturday, November 6,2004 rain, sleet, snow or shine! The event has been conducted in snow for six of the past 13 years. Starting time 9:30 a.m. at Kalkaska Middle School in Kalkaska, Michigan for the Iceman Cometh Challenge, and 9:30 a.m. at Timber Ridge Campground – the Iceman Finish Line, for the Slush Cup. The Sno-Cone Race, a race just for kids under 12 will get underway at 9:35 a.m., also at Timber Ridge Campground and Nordic Resort.
Where: Starting the village of Kalkaska, Michigan, the Iceman trail consists of paved roads, dirt roads, two tracks, abandoned railroad beds, and the world-famous Vasa Nordic Ski Trail. The finish line come 27 miles later just outside of Traverse City at Timber ridge Campground and Nordic Center.
Who: 2,000 amateur and professional mountain bike racers from across the United States and Canada, spectators and sports media will attend. 100 children under 12 participate in the Sno-Cone event.

The Iceman Welcomes Snow, Slush or Sun For The 16th Annual Iceman Cometh Challenge
(Traverse City, MI) Autumn, 2005 – Will there be a return visit from the "Iceman" from 2004 or will the "Niceman" find his way to the trail again this year? Whatever the weather, the 16th running of the Iceman Cometh Challenge will have a record number of riders. Just 2,000 amateur and professional riders from across the country and Canada were allowed to register for this annual mountain bike race. The race is slated for Saturday, November 5, 2005. Registered closed in record time, in mid-June. Registration for the 2006 will get underway just days after the 15th annual bike event.
A 27-mile, point-to-point mountain bike race has been held in rain, sleet, mud and of course snow! This year's riders compete for more than $23,200 in cash prizes and $10,000 in merchandise prizes.

The Slush Cup is the half-frozen version of the iceman that starts in Traverse City at the Iceman finish line at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5 at Timber Ridge Campground and ends at the same location.
Iceman age classes are now broken into five-year increments to age 45 for men and women. Smaller Ice cyclists (ages 2 to 12) will enjoy Sno-Cone Race. Now in its fourth year, the Sno-Cone event will get underway at Timber Ridge Campground at 9:35 on Saturday, November 5. Pre-Registration is requested, but not required.
When the races are over, the Ice Capades Awards Ceremony will put the finishing touches on the bike season. Ice Capades will take place in Governor's Hall at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa following race day activities. There are no limits for Sno-Cone size racers at the Iceman Cometh Challenge
(Traverse City, MI) Autumn, 2005 – The tradition of the Iceman Cometh Challenge continues as it welcomes Sno-Cone size mountain bike enthusiasts to the annual event on Saturday, November 5, 2005.
The trails may be icy and full of riders on the 27-mile point-to-point event slated for adult riders, but for kids ages 2 to 12 there are No Limits!
In its third year, the Sno-Cone Race is Free! Every young rider will receive a medal to hang around their neck, a way cool gift, an official bike number-plate, and even stickers for their courage on the trail!
The 4th Annual Sno-Cone Race will begin just after the slush Cup at 9:35 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2005. Participants will be broken down into appropriate age categories and ability levels. The course will consist of a short (1/4 mile) and mostly flat loop around Timber Ridge Campground for the very youngest riders, and a 1.5 mile course for older riders. Each age group will ride a different number of laps.
There is one catch – every young cyclist is required to have an ANSI approved helmet and ensure that their bike passes a safety inspection. Registration if FREE, but requested to participate. Entry forms are available on-line at www.iceman.com in the Slush Cup section.
